Why this Biometrics Services page is written for Columbus

a community where Somali, Arabic, Spanish, French, and Nepali are spoken every day across schools, workplaces, and houses of worship — and Columbus, with a population near 905,748, reflects that mix in its schools, workplaces, and houses of worship.

Across Columbus Metro, the fingerprinting work we prepare most often supports USCIS biometrics appointments, BCI/FBI background checks for licensing, and out-of-state employer requests. Columbus clients work with us on the paperwork side of fingerprinting: getting the request form filled out correctly, identifying the right ORI, and packaging the print cards for BCI, FBI, or out-of-state submission.

Columbus sits in Columbus Metro, home to Ohio State University, Nationwide Insurance, JPMorgan Chase operations, and the rapidly growing Intel Ohio One semiconductor campus in Licking County. Franklin County, where Columbus is located, is one of Ohio's largest cities, with full county clerk services, multiple post offices accepting passport applications, and a deep network of professional services.

COTA bus service connects the metro, but most appointments require driving — most clients reach our office via I-71, I-270, or Cleveland Ave. From Columbus (ZIP 43215), the trip is roughly 0 miles each way.

Columbus is about 0 miles from our Morse Rd office — typically a 0-minute drive. Fingerprint paperwork review usually takes only 15-30 minutes. We also serve families across the rest of Columbus Metro, where many of our Columbus clients have relatives, coworkers, and shared community ties.

Our Columbus clients commonly include families served by Columbus City Schools and workers and patients tied to OhioHealth / Mount Carmel / Nationwide Children's.

Employment Fingerprinting for Columbus Residents

Columbus job applicants regularly come to us with employer-issued ORIs from major Franklin County employers and state agencies. We process pre-employment BCI and FBI checks for any Ohio ORI — bring whatever your HR department gave you.

Who Needs Employment Fingerprinting?

New hire job applicants whose employer required fingerprints

Job applicants whose background check expired or is being refreshed

Temporary agency workers being placed on new assignments

Applicants for positions with vulnerable populations (required by law)

Anyone whose employer gave them a BCI submission form or ORI number

Legal Requirements

Pre-employment fingerprinting in Ohio is governed by ORC 109.572 for regulated industries and employer policy for unregulated ones. Employers must specify whether BCI only, FBI only, or both are required. Results go to the employer or the employer's designated agency, not to the job applicant. Under ORC 4112 (Ohio Fair Employment Practices), employers must follow specific rules on when they can ask about criminal history.

What to Expect

Your employer will give you their ORI number and may also provide a form or instructions. Bring those plus a valid photo ID. If your employer said to bring "blank FD-258 cards," we can supply them (or you can bring your own). We capture prints and submit to the ORI on file — results go directly to your employer.

Turnaround

BCI: 2–5 business days. FBI: 7–21 days.

Cost

BCI: $42. BCI + FBI: $67.

What to Bring

Valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport)
ORI number from your employer or licensing board
Employer authorization letter (if applicable)
Blank FD-258 cards (if your agency requires ink cards)
Payment — cash or card accepted
Any agency-specific instructions or forms

Frequently Asked Questions

My employer said to go to "any WebCheck provider." Can I come to you?

Yes. We are an authorized Ohio BCI WebCheck provider. Any employer that says "go to a WebCheck provider" can be served by our office.

Can I use a BCI check from a previous employer for a new job?

Generally no. The background check belongs to the employer who requested it and is tied to their ORI. Your new employer needs their own check done through their ORI. You'll need to be re-fingerprinted.
