Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) providers must conduct criminal records checks under ORC 5123.081 for employees who have contact with individuals with developmental disabilities. Ohio BCI and the FBI require at least one current, unexpired, government-issued photo ID that shows your name, date of birth, and a clear photograph. Are registry checks the same as fingerprinting?
No. Registry checks (sex offender, abuser, and nurse aide registries) are name-based database searches your employer runs separately. Fingerprinting is the BCI/FBI criminal history check. Both are required for most DODD and residential roles, but we only handle the fingerprint portion.

How long are my results valid?
That depends on the requirement.
