Ohio BCI Fingerprinting Near Columbus, OH

Ohio BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) fingerprinting is the state's primary criminal background check system. When your employer or licensing board says "get a BCI check," they mean electronic fingerprints submitted to Ohio BCI via the WebCheck system. At our Columbus-area office, we are an authorized WebCheck provider. We capture your fingerprints electronically and submit them directly to BCI — results come back to the requesting agency in 2–5 business days.

Why this Biometrics Services page is written for Columbus

Columbus sits in Columbus Metro, home to Ohio State University, Nationwide Insurance, JPMorgan Chase operations, and the rapidly growing Intel Ohio One semiconductor campus in Licking County. Franklin County, where Columbus is located, is one of Ohio's largest cities, with full county clerk services, multiple post offices accepting passport applications, and a deep network of professional services.

Across Columbus Metro, the fingerprinting work we prepare most often supports USCIS biometrics appointments, BCI/FBI background checks for licensing, and out-of-state employer requests. Columbus clients work with us on the paperwork side of fingerprinting: getting the request form filled out correctly, identifying the right ORI, and packaging the print cards for BCI, FBI, or out-of-state submission.

Legal Requirements

Ohio BCI is the state repository for criminal records under ORC 109.57. The WebCheck system allows electronic fingerprint submissions. All BCI submissions require a valid ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) that routes results to the correct agency. Without the correct ORI, results may go to the wrong place or not be processed. BCI checks only cover Ohio criminal history — FBI adds the national and federal layer.

What to Expect

Bring a valid photo ID and your ORI number from your employer or agency. If you're unsure which ORI to use, call your employer's HR department before visiting. We do not provide ORIs — the requesting agency must supply the correct one.

Turnaround

2–5 business days for Ohio BCI. Results go to the agency on file with your ORI.

Cost

BCI WebCheck: $42 (includes $35 BCI fee + $7 service fee).

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between BCI and WebCheck?

WebCheck is the name of the BCI electronic fingerprint submission system. When someone says "I need a WebCheck," they mean an Ohio BCI fingerprint check submitted electronically. They're the same thing.

Can I get BCI results sent to myself?

Yes. If you use the "personal use" ORI, results are sent directly to you and can be used for some non-license-specific purposes. Ask us at the counter if a personal-use BCI is right for your situation.

Does BCI cover out-of-state criminal history?

No. Ohio BCI only covers Ohio criminal records. For national records, you need FBI fingerprinting as well. Many employers require both BCI + FBI to get complete coverage.
