What This Form Is

Form N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings, is used to request a hearing before an immigration officer when your N-400 Application for Naturalization has been denied. This form gives you the opportunity to have your case reviewed by a different USCIS officer and present additional evidence or testimony to support your eligibility for U.S. citizenship.

Who Can File

  • Applicants whose N-400 Application for Naturalization was denied by USCIS
  • Must file within 30 days of receiving the denial decision
  • Applicants who believe USCIS made an error in denying their naturalization application
  • Those who have new or additional evidence to present

  • Copy of the USCIS denial notice for Form N-400
  • Any new or additional evidence supporting eligibility
  • Written statement explaining why the denial was incorrect
  • Copy of originally filed N-400 application
  • Supporting documents addressing the specific reason(s) for denial
  • Government-issued photo identification
