Eritrea Visa Document Assistance in Dublin, Ohio

Eritrean cases require specialized knowledge. The Eritrean government does not routinely cooperate with document requests from citizens who have fled the country, and many civil records were never formally registered or were lost. We help clients navigate this reality through alternative documentation strategies that work.

Who We Serve

Columbus has a significant Eritrean community, many of whom arrived as refugees or asylum seekers. Eritrean immigration cases often involve some of the most complex documentation situations we encounter — missing records, government non-cooperation, and handwritten documents in Tigrinya. We have deep experience with these cases and know how to build strong alternative evidence packages.

What We Help With in Dublin

We are a document preparation and translation service — not an attorney or embassy. We make sure every document in your packet is complete, accurate, and correctly formatted before you submit.

Certified Tigrinya & Arabic Translation

We translate Eritrean birth certificates, marriage records, and official documents from Tigrinya (Ethiopic script) and Arabic into certified English.

Alternative Evidence Package Building

For clients who cannot obtain Eritrean civil records, we help prepare sworn affidavits, family witness letters, religious records, and other alternative evidence accepted by USCIS.

Refugee Travel Document Assistance

Many Eritrean clients travel on US Refugee Travel Documents (Form I-571) rather than Eritrean passports. We help with the supporting documents needed to apply for or renew these travel documents.

Passport Photos & Application Prep

Photos and complete document review for all Eritrean consular and US government applications.

Documents You Typically Need

Every case is different — but these are the documents most commonly required for eritrea visa applications. We review your specific situation when you come in.

  • 1Eritrean national ID card or passport (if available)
  • 2Birth certificate or baptism record from local church (Tigrinya/Arabic, we translate)
  • 3Marriage certificate from civil registry or religious institution
  • 4Sworn affidavits from family members in lieu of missing records
  • 5Religious records (church, mosque) supporting identity claims
  • 6US Refugee Travel Document (I-571) if applicable
What Trips People Up

Government Non-Cooperation With Diaspora Document Requests

The Eritrean government generally does not provide civil records to citizens who left the country without permission — which describes most Eritrean refugees. This means many Eritrean clients genuinely cannot obtain a birth certificate or marriage record from official sources. USCIS and immigration courts recognize this and accept alternative evidence, but that evidence must be carefully prepared. We help draft sworn affidavits from family witnesses, gather secondary documents like church baptism records, school records, and community ID letters, and organize them into a coherent alternative evidence package.

Frequently Asked Questions — Eritrea Visa in Dublin

Can I get Eritrean documents if I fled as a refugee and cannot contact the government?+
Many Eritrean refugees cannot safely contact the Eritrean government or use the Eritrean embassy. USCIS recognizes this. The alternative is to build a secondary evidence package — affidavits, church records, school records, community letters. We specialize in this and have helped many Eritrean clients in Columbus build successful evidence packages.
What is the difference between an Eritrean passport and a Refugee Travel Document?+
An Eritrean passport is issued by the Eritrean government. A US Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) is issued by USCIS to refugees and asylees in the US who cannot use their home country passport. Most Eritrean refugees use the I-571 for international travel. We help with the supporting documents to apply for or renew the I-571.
My Eritrean documents are handwritten in Tigrinya. Can you translate them?+
Yes. Handwritten Tigrinya documents are common for older Eritrean records. Our Tigrinya translators are experienced with handwritten text in Ethiopic script and produce accurate certified translations.
Does Asal help with Eritrean Arabic documents too?+
Yes. The Eritrean lowlands and coastal regions have significant Arabic-speaking populations. Many Eritrean civil records from these areas are in Arabic. We translate both Tigrinya and Arabic Eritrean documents into certified English.
How far is your office from Dublin?+
Our office at 3185 Morse Rd, Suite 15, Columbus is approximately 10 miles from Dublin — typically a 20-minute drive. We're on the north side of Columbus between Cleveland Ave and I-71 with free parking. Walk in any day Monday through Saturday 10am–6pm, Sunday 10am–4pm. No appointment needed.
Do you serve the Eritrea Visa community in Franklin/Delaware County?+
Yes. Dublin and surrounding Franklin/Delaware County communities are a regular part of our client base. We help families and individuals from across Columbus Metro prepare visa application documents, translate vital records, and assemble complete packets for embassy and consulate submission.

Consulate & Processing Information

The Eritrean Embassy in Washington DC provides limited consular services. Many Eritrean refugees in the US choose not to contact the Eritrean government. US Refugee Travel Documents are issued by USCIS — we help with Form I-131A applications.
