East African and Somali Passport Holders Are Not ETA-Eligible
The UK ETA is available to nationals of specific countries — primarily Gulf Cooperation Council countries, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea as of 2024-2025. Somali, Ethiopian, Sudanese, Nigerian, Yemeni, and most other African and Middle Eastern passport holders are not eligible for the UK ETA and must apply for a full UK Standard Visitor Visa. This process involves submitting an application with full financial documentation, ties to home country evidence, and purpose of visit details. UK visitor visa refusal rates can be high — having strong documentation is critical.
